As is becoming a theme for me,
in anticipation of the Withstanding Me Blog Tour,
I needed to read Seize Me (Breakneck #1)
So i Did!!
Synopsis
***WARNING***
This novel contains explicit language, sex, drugs, abuse and sexual situations that some might find offensive.
Winter Belov was the sweet innocent one in her crime family, the dutiful daughter that never disappointed her father. One day, her father does the unspeakable. When he turns his back, Winter flees across the country, taking her life savings with her, determined never to enter that sort of lifestyle again.
No longer innocent, she now lives in Nevada. Lana is her best friend and the only family Winter has. Together, they are two of the best exotic dancers in the county. While working a shift, Pyro, Lana’s long time crush, propositions Winter. He begs her to do a private gig at Breakneck. She accepts, with the condition that Lana dances with her.
When Winter’s eyes lock with Braxxon Breaker's, the President of Breakneck, she realizes she is no longer free; she has been seized. He is everything she is running from but at the same time, everything she wants. Braxxon will not take no for an answer, and purposely disrupts Winter’s life.
Rivals of Braxxon’s club are vicious and they do something that will have him out for blood. Winter's and Braxxon’s relationship is anything but a normal one. If they want to be together, crimes must be committed, friendships will be broken and people are going to die.
What happens when all that chaos mixes with Winter’s father locating her? It will be a bloodshed when Winter and Braxxon seek revenge and take no prisoners.

Review
Oh My Effing God – what the hell did I just read? This book is seriously insane.
The story is set around Winter and Braxxon.
Winter is an exotic dancer, and Braxxon is the president of the Breakneck MC.
The VP, Pyro organises Winter (aka Star) and her bestie Lana (aka Hazel) to dance for Braxxon’s birthday.
From the moment Brax lays eyes on Winter, well lets just say things will never be the same!
So I always try to leave spoilers far away from my reviews. To do this successfully with this story will be hard. So the best I can say is a war between MC’s breaks out, and Winter is square in the middle of it – for a whole range of reasons and EVERYTHING turns to shit!
This story is brutal, raw, violent, graphic, and not like the fantasy Biker stories that have the Bad Boy with a heart of gold….well it has that, but that is not the tone of this story as a general rule.
If you are not a fan of violence, both physical and sexual, and death, this book is not for you. If you think you are ok with this content – think real hard – because you want to be sure this book is for you, because when I say it is brutal – it is fucking brutal.
Winter as a character is amazing, almost unbelievable. To live through everything she does, and still get up each day is admirable. She has spunk and sass in bucket loads, and really makes Brax learn early on how to manage her. Their relationship is full of drama, and challenges, so to see them grow is heartwarming.. to understand their dynamic would have been helpful but they play off each other well.
That said the shit that had to be running through Crystal Spears head to pen this story, scares me just a little!
The Breakneck MC could not have been a more apt name for this club, and this book series. The events in this entire book occurred at break neck speed. My head is still spinning… There really was so much happening so fast, that it lost some of the appeal of a well told story.
I also was not a fan of some of the language structure: it wasn't the actual language, nor was it the derogatory language, I think it was just – no matter how rough people are, do they really talk like that? It made the flow of the read stilted for me.. Now I did read this pretty quick, because my head was running alongside the story line, so i am trying to ascertain if that was the reason for the language issue for me? I think the pace at which i read the story was that element of not being able to look away, like that car crash, you know you shouldn't but you just can't help it!
I think including some details about Winter’s childhood would have helped me understand some of the relationships in her life, I know one particular historical event was mentioned, but the emotion of it seemed glossed over. There were some great secondary characters, but again due to the ‘speed’ of storytelling, we just didn’t learn enough about them to love them.
I didn’t love it.. but certainly didn’t hate it. It was one hell of a roller coaster ride, which left me at the end with a 'what the fuck was that?' expression on my face. I am on the fence with this one....
The Withstanding Me (Breakneck # 2) Blog Tour is stopping by here on 27 September 2013... Make sure you come back to see what happens next with Breakneck MC.
