Length: 55,000 words – 212 pages

Synopsis

I love two men. I screw two men. I am in a relationship with them both, and they are both aware there is another. That is all they need to know, that is all I let them know. They don’t need to know a name; they don’t need to know anything, but that they are not alone in my heart.

They have accepted the situation. Stewart, because his life is too busy for the sort of obligations that are required in a relationship. Paul, because he loves me too much to tell me no. And because my sexual appetite is such that one man has trouble keeping up.

So we exist, two parallel relationships, each running their own course, with no need for intersection or conflict. It works for us, for them, and for me. I don’t expect it to be a long-term situation. I know there is an expiration date on the easy perfection of our lives.

I should have paid more attention, should have looked around and noticed the woman who watched it all. She sat in the background and waited, tried to figure me out. Saw my two relationships, the love between us, and the moment that it all fell apart.

She hates me.

I don’t even know she exists.

She loves them. I love them.

And they love me.

EVERYTHING else hangs in the balance

Excerpt

I step from the bedroom a half hour later, jeans and a tank top on, my wet hair twisted into a bun. I swing by the kitchen on my way out, waving a goodbye to Estelle and snagging a red apple and bottled water from the fridge.

I hop on Santa Monica Boulevard, moving through lanes of traffic with ease, my car knowing the route as well as my soul, my thoughts wandering as I drive. My Audi was a gift from Stewart, my twenty-ninth birthday present, probably picked out by his assistant. Regardless of who chose the vehicle, I love it. White exterior, blood red leather inside, it is sleek, sexy, and just begs every degenerate in my neighborhood to steal it. I am shocked it has survived for the last five months.

It’s fourteen miles between Stewart’s home and mine, but it might as well be different countries. Stewart lives in the fast-paced world of downtown Hollywood, rarely leaving the blocks of the city unless jetting off for work. He doesn’t own a plane, he doesn’t spend his money on much other than his home, his clothes, and me. He doesn’t have time to spend money, and doesn’t believe in purchasing things just because he can. He works a hundred hours a week, sleeps six hours a night, and fucks the hell out of me the rest of the time. His needs are minimum: food, sleep, and sex. I take care of one of those. Estelle and his bed take care of the rest.

I get off on Lincoln Boulevard, the road traffic lessening, frustrated drivers continuing their zip along the freeway, anxious to continue their painful life . I wish, for a brief moment, that I had put down the car’s top, needing the wind in my hair and the sound of the surf. Leaving Stewart’s, I sometimes need the wash of fresh air. A strong breeze to release the intensity he carries with him.

I pull off the road, turning down our street and press the garage release button, entering the dark space that is my spot and killing the ignition. I step out in dim light, the overhead burnt out, Paul promising for the last five months to get around to it.

The steps are worn concrete, this townhome complex built before developers knew what they had, before they realized that this close to the beach they shouldn’t build shit housing. Back before property values hit ridiculous figures, and a six-figure income still puts you in the projects, dodging street beggars and used needles. We don’t make six-figures. Paul brings in anywhere from fifty to sixty thousand surfing. And I bring in far less than that, running a bookstore that operates out of a bar on Venice beach. For California standards, it’s practically poverty, but we don’t need much. For Paul and I, we never did. We’re lucky to have this place, my stepfather blessing us with a rent payment low enough to both piss our neighbors off and ensure that we still can cover food and utilities.

We met at the Santa Monica pier, when we were side by side in the singles line for the rollercoaster. We had all of six minutes in line, the shuffle moving quickly, singles getting split up among the empty seats in a bored and orderly fashion.

He flashed a smile at me, and that was really all it took. Broad shoulders, tan skin that peeled a bit on his nose, blue eyes that looked like a fucking turquoise magic marker. He was in board shorts, a tee-shirt, and flip flops with muscular, track-free arms and no hint of tattoos. It was like God plucked an Abercrombie & Fitch model from the sky and injected him with testosterone and sexuality. I smiled back.

We spent those six minutes talking, our words spilling out between laughs and chemistry. I instantly liked him, had one of those at-peace realizations that ‘this is a good guy’. The type so good that women run over him, the type so good that he is often best-friended. But this guy? With his gorgeous looks and the I-will-fuck-you-in-this-line-right-now vibe? No woman was stupid enough to best-friend this man. I wanted him, right there in that line, my panties sticking to me in the best way possible beneath my short cotton skirt.

We reached the front, our moment of separation, but were seated together, two of us in one bench, a ridiculous, never-should-happen moment, and I took the minute before liftoff to reach over, tugging the back of his head, his wide smile and soft lips telling me that I wasn’t crazy, that he wanted this every bit as much as I did. And I knew, in that kiss, in that brief moment of hotness in which our mouths instantly knew every part of the other’s soul, that I would fuck him. The minute, the second, the ride finished. I needed him inside me, needed his hands to grip my waist, his shirt to move off that beautiful chest and my bare breasts to replace it. I needed every inch of him against and inside of me. Then the bar jerked down, and we separated with a laugh.

“Ready?” he asked.

“Just prepare for screams.” I grinned.

I was, and still am, a dramatic rider. I believe that there’s no point in doing something if you aren’t going to do it with all of your heart. I raised my arms, I screamed bloody murder, and he loved every minute of it. We swept through the loading bay after one cycle, the operator amping the riders up before pushing the button and letting us ride again.

The vibration of the seat underneath me, the closeness of pure sex beside me, the anticipation of what was to come… I attacked him the moment the ride ended, grabbing his hand and tugging him out, the pounding between my legs reaching a fever pitch. I ran, pulling him along with me, our bodies weaving around families, couples, giant stuffed snakes and dollar games of chance.

We broke from the crowd and moved faster, our flip flops slapping against the wood boardwalk, the tinny laugh of children vaguely registering in my head. I broke right when I saw the opening and jogged down sandy steps, glancing behind me to make sure he was there. He was, his eyes bright and curious, his steps right behind mine, keeping easy pace with my frantic steps. “What are we-where are we going?” he called out. I ditched my sandals when I hit the sea of white and ran through hot sand, gripping his hand and pulling him along, under the boardwalk, past a few homeless tents and down towards the water, where the posts are thicker, the cover more enclosed, privacy at a barely-there standard. I waded into calf-high water, pulling and then pushing him against a square post, my hands frantic on his shirt, my mouth fighting the movement of clothes for another chance at that gorgeous mouth.

His hands pushed my thin tee up, over the curves of my bikini top, his firm fingers sliding the triangles of my bikini over, my breasts spilling free, his hands cupping them and squeezing, his breath catching in my mouth. He pulled away, looking down, staring at my breasts in his hands, his head leaning down, his hands lifting me into the heat of his mouth. His mouth was incredible, soft yet firm, pliable against my delicate skin, his fingers’ brush against my nipples soft and sweet. I could feel him, hard against my thigh, and I reached back, digging into my pocket for what I always keep there – just in case. Just in case I meet a man who I can’t resist.

He started at the touch of my fingers, dipping under the nylon of his shorts, his mouth coming off of my breasts and looking at me, surprised. “Here?” This close, I could see tints of green in his blue eyes, the color of ocean water, glittering brilliantly against the brown sand of his skin.

“Yes, here. I need you.” I met his eyes confidently as I said the words, my hands already sealing the deal, pulling him out *oh my god HARD* and sliding protection over him with one smooth motion. His eyes darkened, intensity stealing over them, and he turned us, trading places, pushing my back against the hard wet span of wood, his hands lowering, gripping the back of my legs and sliding up, pushing my skirt higher, his hands gripping the meat of my ass and lifting.

Then I was in the air, his pelvis underneath me, supporting me against the post, and his fingers were skimming the line of my bikini bottoms, traveling up the curve of my hip until he reached the tie, yanking quickly, his hand moving back down once the material of my suit is gone. His mouth left mine, a gasp in his tone as his fingers pushed inside, one digit and then two. “Jesus. Are you sure?”

A stupid question as I hung before him, my breasts exposed, legs wrapped around his waist, my need dripping a path for his cock. “Give it to me,” I breathed. “Hard.”

He didn’t ask again, didn’t do anything but prop me hard against the post, used his fingers to position himself at my entrance, and then he fucked. Quick fast strokes, his breath hard against my neck, his hands digging into the flesh of my ass, pulling and gripping the skin as he made his mark on my body. His fucks were wild, out of control, and I moaned against his neck, loving the fervor of his movements.

When I came, I cried out, his mouth quickly moving to mine, muffling the sound, as my body shook around his, my legs squeezing as intensity shook my body. It was too much, too great, the heat of my orgasm and clench of my sex, and I felt him as he came, the twitch and raw emotion that flowed through him, his breath gasping as he grunted, slowing his fucks and giving me a few last, final, pushes.

“Oh my god,” he whispered against my neck, his cock softening inside of me. “Oh my god. I think I’m in love with you.”

He wasn’t. He was just surprised, that a girl with perfect teeth, and a bred-in-the-Valley smile, would fuck a stranger under the pier in Santa Monica. And I really thought, as I dropped to my knees in the water and peeled off the condom, taking him into my mouth and sucking his cock dry, that I would never see him again. That it would be that one, fuckable moment, and nothing else. But here we are, two years later and incredibly in love.

That’s right. In LOVE. Yes, I am still the hoochie who just got my brains fucked out on the weight bench. The one who has dated Stewart Brand, one of the most eligible bachelors in downtown Hollywood for the last two years. I know what you’re thinking. That dropped jaw and disgusted look on your face? I’ve seen it before. But wait. Please. Don’t judge me quite yet.

Iva's Review

Maddison Decante is a 29 year old woman living two separate lives simutaneously. Most days she is Madd, a used book seller who lives in one of the seeder parts of Venice Beach in a run down apartment with her surfer boyfriend Paul. At other times, maybe once or twice a month, she is Maddison, girlfriend to Stewart, one of the most successful businessmen in the city. It's a situation that works mostly okay for all three of them, as long as the two men don't have to ever meet.

Sex Love Repeat is a very well written erotic romance novel, the prose is faultless, the dialogue spot on, and the characters well thought out and very honest in their thoughts during their narration. It is a fast, easy to read book with explosive sex scenes and an interesting and unique love triangle.

Four different characters narrate through this book with Maddison being the most frequent. Transition between narrators occur seamlessly, and the reader is well aware of who is currently telling the story.

The sex scenes within Sex Love Repeat are highly descriptive, very arousing and occur frequently. (You will not deny the night's tap on the shoulder, whilst you read this book.) There is perhaps very limited romance. No wining or dining, but love is evident between Maddison and her two men.

Alessandra Torre's Sex Love Repeat is a unique love triangle story, where the two men have consented to only have part of Maddison's heart, but for two different reasons. Maddison keeps them both completely separate, not giving any hints in regards to the identity of either one to the other. She knows there is a time limit to their arrangement but cannot choose between two men she adores.

Maddi has a big heart and a huge sexual appetite. Her thoughts during her narration show a deep thinker and a woman who accepts who she is and what she wants without conforming to what others consider normal.
The two male characters, whilst worlds apart, have a certain similarity that is necessary in order for the reader to understand Maddison's love for both.

Stewart is a very focused and determined individual. His obsession with work makes him a difficult character to know but Alessandra Torre has written him in such a way that you accept how he is without any resentment, along side Maddison.

Paul manages to steal your heart from the first paragraph he appears in. He is a more open character than Stewart and his love for Maddison is evident. He has an exterior that makes him appear to be young, and carefree but he is perhaps the more emotionally mature of the three.

Dana is the fourth narrator within the book. She is a very clever inclusion to the book with her perspective running parallel to what the reader would be thinking looking in from the outside. This, in turn, enhances a reader's appreciation of Maddison and the decision she has made in regards to her relationships.

Overall, Sex Love Repeat is a great book and once read, will have you searching for more novels by Alessandra Torre.

Four and a half hearts.

Kota's Review

Let me start by apologising up front.  My heavy schedule and my need for always reviewing blind has again caught me out in reviewing a book that is not the first in a series.  I always intend to pre-read the earlier stories, but unfortunately on this occasion, just ran out of time.

So please, let me encourage you to read ‘Cambridge Blue’ Book 1 in the DC Gary Goodhew Mysteries first.

Book 2 sees us following the case involving Kimberly Guyver and Rachel Golinksi.  With a turn of events Kimberly and Rachel’s past starts to catch up to them.  This story has many twists and leads that keep DC Goodhew on his toes as he goes about working this case.

There are many elements to this story, with characters intersecting to provide relevant insights.  I found that these links were a little hard to follow, and wonder if it was because of not having the knowledge of Book 1, however upon reflection, I don’t think this is the case.  While Goodhew went about the case and following leads as they arose, the author shifted in tense and perspective, which I think was the cause of confusion for me.  This had me suitably distracted while I tried to follow all of the relationships.

The character traits within this case – particularly Goodhew and his police colleagues present as complex, but this story (certainly as I read it as a standalone) didn’t pay these story enough time for me to feel connected to them all.

The author has the ability to build suspense and mystery in a way that keeps the pages turning, however, it seemed like it took a long time before things actually happened.  There is a lot of minutiae in the details but I didn’t feel closer to understanding the motive or the action.

I think Goodhew is a quirky character who I could grow fond of, but he hasn’t got me hooked just yet.  Alison Bruce is an author I would like to explore more of, as the tone of her writing shows quality.

I am going to rate the Siren 3 and a ½ hearts..
and I am going to commit to reading it again,
after I have read Book 1, to see if that changes my view.

Reclining Nude in Chicago by Fifi Flowers

Synopsis

What Happens when freelance art writer Julia Van Rothfelder
is mistaken for an artist's life model and finds herself
reclining nude in Chicago?

"Reclining Nude in Chicago"
is book one of a new Encounters series by Fifi Flowers...
Several standalone novellas featuring business women
who travel and enjoy interesting encounters.

Iva's Review

Reclining Nude in Chicago is an erotic romance written by author Fifi Flowers and is the first novella in a collection of stories about travelling business women and their sexual expoits.

Fifi Flowers eases you into an understanding of her main character with some quirky humour and essential background and then bowls you over with some highly erotic depictions of steamy sex. The story is told through the eyes of Julia, with nice transitions between scenes and chapters that are easy to follow.

The main character, Julia Van Rothfelder, is a modern woman with an art major working as a freelance journalist. She comes over as a little bit ditzy but this ends up endearing her to you as you progress through the story. Her love of art, and especially the artist Matisse take her to Chicago and into the company of two very yummy men.

The Curator and The Artist (They have names, but it is fun to learn them as Julia does!) are both very strong, demanding, sexy males. It takes a little bit of reading before you start to distinguish their differences and see that they are two very different types of men.

With the writing style I had one or two moments of "sticky" wording - where I had to backtrack when a sentence didn't flow nicely or didn't clarify something clearly enough, but these were very minor and didn't interfer with my enjoyment of the story. I also thought it clever not having such a detailed physical description of the characters until later in the book as it allowed me to enjoy the naughty bits a little more, filling in the blanks my own way. I read the entire book with a Mona Lisa smile on my face.

The epilogue is brilliant and a wonderful way to end the story giving it a completion it would have lacked if finished any other way. This really sold the book for me.

Fifi Flowers' Reclining Nude in Chicago is a naughty little book, that allows a reader to fantasise along side the main character. I look forward to reading the future novellas by this writer.

AUTHOR – Danielle-Claude Ngontang Mba
GENRE – Mystery Romance
PUBLICATION DATE – October 7th 2013

Bird Of Prey Cover Final ebook

Synopsis

This was supposed to be an easy case...

Sémya Slotin had spent the last three years living in London with her best friend Polliannah Koch staying away from solving cases. After Hawaii, she was taking a break from puzzles, cases and mysteries that could potentially get her killed. Instead, she had been doing her second and third favorite things, drinking and selling expensive vintage wines and having earthshattering sex with the mysterious, sexy, beautiful but ever so secretive Josh Heinz. Life in London was good….until her funds ran out. Too much wine drinking, not enough wine selling!

When fashion designer and adoptive mother, Annika Slotin, summoned her back to Paris to hire her for what Sémya considered being the easiest case of her amateur sleuth career, all she could think of and seeing was money signs and a well-deserved Cuban holiday once it was solved.

What Sémya didn’t see was her stumbling on the fresh corpse of supermodel Johanna Cartier. She didn’t think that male model turned fashion designer Julian Marais-Caldwin, who also happened to be Sémya’s ex, would be suspected of brutally murdering her. Johanna was his girlfriend, his muse and he loved her. Sémya didn’t see the dead bodies piling up or the conspiracy theories.

Sémya was a little rusty. But then again, it was supposed to be an easy case and she was going to solve it. One vintage wine at a time… Sémya Slotin was officially back in business!

Polliannah knew that Sémya would go all Nancy Drew on her tonight. After playing nice with a few guests from the fashion house, she discreetly slipped to the hallway and gestured her to come with her. “I just need to see what’s going on over there?” she whispered as she was removing her shoes.
“Is this not a felony?” she asked Sémya. And she wasn’t going to remove her shoes! Sémya frowned back. How could it be a felony, they are not breaking and entering. They are already inside the house. Every step she was taking was making a sound. “Sorry,” she whispered when Sémya hushed her for the fourth time.
“This house is a maze,” she said opening the third room. It was yet another bedroom, another empty bedroom. She looked around, and apart from the furniture, the place was empty.
“What are you searching for?” She whispered.
“Something…anything. I’ll know when I see it,” Sémya muttered back. “Hide here,” she said when they heard footsteps. She left the door slightly opened so they could see. Johanna was at the edge of the corridor with the gorgeous man they saw at the beginning of the party.
“She’s cheating on Julian?”
“Hush Polli, I want to hear what they’re saying,” she told her.
“Because you have dog hearing?” Polliannah said. The man smoothly passed his hand around Johanna’s waist but she removed it. “Okay maybe he’s just a grabby guest?”
“No, he’s completely invading her personal space. She’s just being careful,” Sémya said. “Peter! Not here, not now.” Johanna said before moving away.
Peter stayed behind and looked their way. They both held our breath until he walked away. “And now I found it,” she smiled. They quickly sneaked back to the party.
“So are you going to tell Julian?” Polliannah asked her.
“Tell him what? That she was talking to some bloke?” She said as she put her shoes back on. “This is Eileen Clarke,” Sémya told Polliannah when the bubbly blond woman joined them. “You’re late but you look lovely tonight.”
“Nice to finally put a face to the name, Polliannah I presume.” Eileen blushed and turned her attention the younger woman who was next to her. “And this is Emma Blum, Johanna’s assistant. She organized this entire shindig for Miss Cartier. I just got here but everything looks great!”
Emma looked a little shaken. “Are you alright Emma?” Sémya said.
She looked away for a bit but smiled. “I’m fine. Who’s up for a tour?"
Polliannah looked at Sémya, they just had their own private tour. Eileen looked very excited about the idea. They all nodded back. “Shall we?” Emma said.

Iva's Review

When Semya Slotin's estranged fashion designer mother calls her to ask for Semya's skills as an investigator, Semya thinks the mystery of who is stealing the sketches of her mother's and Semya's ex boyfriend Julian Marais-Caldwin's latest designs will be an open and shut case. But that is before a double homicide occurs and leaves more mysteries for Semya to solve.

Danielle Claude Ngontang Mba's Bird of Prey is an intriguing mystery novel with a well thought out plot and a lot of twists to keep you interested. It follows main character Semya Slotin, but is not written just from her perspective as you get the thoughts from everyone around her.

The prologue is captivating and sets the tone for the book. Unfortunately the first 40 pages of the story feels rushed, as though the author wants to get the reader to the real point of the book, so the backgrounds to the characters feel incomplete and your left wondering whether there is another book preceding Bird of Prey.

The mystery within the book is reminiscent of Agatha Christie with a main character that is a mixture of Sherlock Holmes and Miss Marple.
Semya Slotin has an extremely high IQ, and has degrees in various studies but most importantly Criminology. She profiles everyone she has relationships with and picks up quirks in their behaviour and personalities. Despite all this she co owns a wine shop with her best friend Pollyannah that is barely breaking even because Semya is constantly drinking their expensive inventory. She has had a 4 year relationship with Josh Heinz, a man too frightened to tell Semya that he loves her or give her too much detail of his past because he knows once Semya has "solved" him she may lose interest.

I admired some of Semya's characteristics; she was like a dog with a bone solving the case, but i found her constant analysis of everyone as a flaw in her ability to trust, and her drinking and citing how much each bottle was worth annoying. There is a lot of depth to this woman and I think she will be a good character to follow as she deals with her issues in coming books.

There is some poor word choice used by the author throughout the story and a need to clarify dialogue without actually making it clear who has spoken. Both this and the bouncing back and forth into the different characters thoughts is distracting to the flow of the story.

I also felt that there was not enough emotional or atmospheric detail in the story to make you really care about the characters and some scene transitions occurred without any lead in or closure.

Dannielle Claude Ngontang Mba's Bird of Prey is a good mystery novel with a side of sex and a fascinating main character that ends with a cliffhanger that will entice many readers to read the next Semya Slotin mystery.
Three magnifying glasses.
Read if you like Sherlock Holmes or Agatha Christie Novels.

Excerpt

Tears form at the corner of my eyes as the full brunt of Dornan’s obsession with me becomes apparent. He left me here for this. He asked me who my ex-boyfriend was, and then proceeded to travel across the country to kidnap an innocent boy from his house. A boy who has never laid eyes on me, a boy who I found online and added to Sammi’s backstory for credibility.
A boy who kneels in front of me with a gun pointed at his head.
I struggle against Chad’s stronghold, but it is useless. The guy is built, and he’s probably been snorting the white powder with daddy all the way home.
I bite down on Chad’s hand and he pulls it away, yelling at me.
“He’s not my ex!” I scream, fighting against Chad’s rigid embrace.
Dornan looks at me like a man possessed. A man on a mission.
“I lied,” I gasp, still struggling. “I’ve never met him before. Please, just let him go.”
Dornan lowers his gun and looks me up and down. “You don’t have to be scared of him anymore,” he says. He lifts the gun, his finger putting pressure on the trigger.
“Please!” I scream.
My pleas go unheeded.
He pulls the trigger.

Kota's Review

This story is Ronnie and Lola’s story, and it picks up where Get Bent finishes off.

Ronnie has been grieving the death of his one true love for years, and because of that he is just a shell of a man.  He is an addict, he fucks around and nothing makes him feel…  but in Get Bent, we learnt a lot about what makes him tick.

Lola is a drummer with Glass and Ice, one of the support acts on Tour.  She is introduced to us after she shows some interest in Ronnie.  Little do we know the intent of that interest in the early stages.

Lola is mixed up in all the drama that surrounds Naomi and Turner, and the tour.  In such a big way that when chaos and death start to show up, she is more than entwined.

CM Stunich does not disappoint.  This story is very much in the same tone, and style as the rest of the Hard Rocks Roots series.  It’s brutal and confronting in its telling.  The twists and turns that keep you second guessing in the series remain and I have no idea where the story will go next.

However, for me, this story did not trigger the same emotions that Book 1 & 2 did.  I am yet to figure out if it was because I loved Naomi and Turner so much and Ronnie and Lola just didn’t compare in their story, or if it was the delivery and intent of this story.

Tough Luck is getting 3 ½ hearts – it is good in that it is pure CM Stunich, it is confronting, raw and sets the scene for more of the story – but it doesn’t reach the same dizzying heights that the first two books left me sitting at!

I found that while there was plenty happening in this story – it didn’t take me on the same ebb and flow of an emotional journey, my adrenaline didn’t spike.. and the Ronnie who I grew to love in the previous books didn’t quite turn out to be all that!  And, Lola well I started out curious, being an Aussie girl and all, but then she didn’t float my boat either.  It may have been lack of backstory and depth for her which I didn't connect with, and I found some of her attitudinal comments and behavior's odd - not in she's that fucked up kind of way, but that they seemed to not fit with her character.

But CM seriously knows how to end with a cliff hanger…  thank god the next instalment is not that far away…  seriously!

Erika Wilde turns up the heat in THE MARRIAGE DIARIES, an erotic series about a married couple who take intimacy and passion to the extreme.

After nearly twenty years of marriage, Jillian Noble is ready to put some spice back into her sex life with her gorgeous husband, Dean. After seducing him at his office, Jillian reveals what she wants, and her husband is more than happy to oblige. Erotic fantasies are fulfilled, and forbidden passions surface as they open themselves up to a provocative world where boundaries are pushed to the limit and pleasure is the ultimate goal.

But Dean has a dark past, and even darker desires that he’s kept a tight rein on all these years. When he gives his wife a taste of his more illicit appetite, will she embrace his carnal needs, or beg for mercy?

WARNING: Contains explicit sexual content and is recommended for mature readers who enjoy erotic situations, as well as graphic language and imagery.

Kota's Review

This is a box set of Novella’s about married couple, Jillian and Dean.  Each volume is primarily a experience/fantasy that either Jillian or Dean wish to play out.  The stories contain role-play, mild BDSM, D/s, public and anal sexual experiences and is explicit and erotic in its telling.

Volume 1 – The Awakening (approx. 35 pgs)

We are introduced to Jillian and Dean, a couple who have been married for 19 years.  After marrying young, two kids who are now grown, and Dean having retired from an 8 year career as a Navy Seal working in his own securities firm, it’s safe to say that marriage had become comfortable.  Jillian feels that their sex life needs a little spicing up so after some planning she propositions Dean at work one day!

This encounter leads them on a journey of sexual discovery, with some mild kink and fantasy thrown in…

Volume 2 – The Seduction (approx. 44 pgs)

After Jillian has placed her cards on the table regarding the need to explore their more adventurous sexual side and gave Dean permission to explore the elements that he has been withholding, this story takes us on a journey as Dean explores his Dominant personality.

Dean is a man who thrives on control, and once Jillian tells him it is ok for him to let go, he can’t help but take her up on her offer.  This story sees Dean and Jillian preparing for dinner date.  Dean takes care of all of the details and gifts Jillian with some lovely pearls…

Dean is a Dom that I would happily submit to..  Gorgeous, creative, and definitely confidently in control.  I am not sure I will look pearls the same again!

After the dinner encounter, Dean has to go away for business.  This gives Jillian time to make some changes to their basement, and provides some opportunity for some skype action, in which some fantasies are spoken about and ideas start to form….

Volume 3 – The Taking (approx. 36 pgs)

This story sees Dean return home from his business trip, and Jillian anticipating his arrival to showcase her work in the basement.  During their Skype session, Jillian talked about a stranger/captive fantasy she has…

With some minimal instruction, Dean sets the plans in motion for the games/fantasy to begin.

This story is intense, with elements that I didn’t see coming…  The role-play action in this one is definitely for those that share this fantasy…  but even if you don’t…  Erika Wilde portrays it in a way that is still pretty hot….

We then get to see some action in the ‘basement’ and we see how much this experimentation is helping their relationship grow.

Volume 4 – The Temptation (approx.. 39 pgs)

So this volume ultimately takes us on the journey of Dean’s voyeur fantasy, but before this we have some more encounters on the D/s kind…   In order for Dean’s fantasy to take shape, they need to head out, and it is clear that Jillian has taken care of most of the arrangements.

The ultimate fantasy in this story though, plays out as intended, but comes with some unexpected outcomes…

The following encounters are hot… and by the end of the story you are wanting to see what is next.

Overall Thoughts of the Marriage Diaries

Box Set (Vols 1-4)

These stories are short, sexy novellas.  I read them continuously which enabled me to enjoy the growth of Jillian and Dean as their adventures unfolded.  Had I read these stories individually, and had to wait in between stories, I think my response would been very different, as individually they would have lost much of the momentum and emotional connection between the characters.  As it was, the recapping required for those not reading continuously was a little irritating.

The safety of their relationship enabled the exploration to occur without great fear of failure, they were in this together, and happy to explore.  If it worked it worked and if it didn’t it didn’t.  Their compassion and love for each other underpinned every encounter, but it also impacted the authenticity of the fantasy.  To me this would be a great introduction to the kinky themes introduced, and a great way for those reading to think about how they maybe could incorporate this into their life if that was what they wanted.  The themes were mild, and the encounters, while hot, and detailed, they were on the milder end of erotica, so there was a definite level of safety with that.

I enjoyed the story, as a whole, and I liked reading this erotic story about a committed monogamous couple who were just adding some spice… rather than the alternative in the genre (which don’t get me wrong… works too) of the unhappy couples looking for satisfaction elsewhere, or those innocent virgin’s who happened to fall into the lifestyle.

But…  As a chapter in a book – they were great snippets of life, as a Novella – I found them a little lacking. The concepts are there, the delivery works, but seems to be incomplete for me – I think I needed more intensity to buy into it any more than just a passing – that was nice….

I also struggled with the perspective it was delivered in..  I was never sure if it was being narrated, coming from Jillian’s or Dean’s perspective, or a combination of all 3.  I often found myself feeling like I had moved from 1st to 3rd person perspective, and between characters before I could figure it out.  Now this could have just been me, and maybe I was a little tired…  if so, accept my apologies…  but it is one issue that keeps coming back to me!

Finally, I will say if you are a married woman, who’s sex life is a little vanilla, and you wonder what if…. This is a great read and will certainly plant some ideas…  If you like it dirty, with serious BDSM and D/s – this one probably isn’t for you….

I am rating this box set at 3 ½ hearts – for a quick, fun, flirty, and dirty read….  Go for it – but I suggest you read each volume consecutively, or you might be left disappointed.

Now I am curious what Vol 5 will bring – I have my ideas….  But I am not sure if I am on the money – so I will wait to find out!

The Marriage Diaries boxed set is on sale for $.99 (normally $3.99) until December 1st.

About the Author

Erika Wilde (aka Janelle Denison) is the USA Today bestselling author of over 50 contemporary romances for multiple print publishers.

So, why the new pen name?

As Janelle Denison I’ve always written sexy books, but lately my writing has taken on more erotic elements that I wanted to keep separate for readers because not everyone likes their reading material on the spicier, kinkier side of romance. However, please be assured that even as Erika Wilde, you will still get an emotionally layered story with characters you’ll care about and fall in love with. That is always my goal, whether I’m writing straight contemporary romances, or more erotically charged stories.

Currently, I’m working on The Marriage Diaries and making sure that Dean and Jillian enjoy exploring the more erotic side to their marriage. The series will be on-going, with no foreseeable ending as of right now, for as long as readers want to be voyeurs to Dean and Jillian’s sizzling new relationship.

I’m also planning a spin-off series in the future, featuring the hot military men that work security for Dean at Noble and Associates. My next book, THE INVITATION, will introduce the men of that new series, THE PLAYERS CLUB.
