Kota's Review

Kate Roth has written this story, a stand-alone contemporary romance in the Confessions Records collection.  The music biz, clearly is the place to want to be..  In Natural Harmony we meet Sabrina, former teen pop star and niece of the president/owner of Confessions records.

Circumstances mean that Sabrina is thrust into a very different professional role – so how will she cope?  She hires a new assistant Wade Lawson, who helps her to see some alternative perspectives on things and Sabrina surpasses expectations.

One significant issue holding Sabrina back is her relationship with her Manager, Beau Harris.  What will happen with the dynamics of these characters and how will this story unfold?

This story is really sweet.  It is my first Kate Roth book and I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style.  I found the first half of this book flew by, the story was engaging, the tension building nicely, the characters started growing rapidly on me – and before I knew it I had read ½ the book.  The second half however, where there was a little more effort with the characters gaining substance and relationships developing, plots twisting and more of the heated scenes, I found the book begin to drag a little.  Nothing to drastic, it just took me longer to get through it and I my mind didn’t seem as engaged.  

Now don’t get me wrong – this is a sweet book with a happy ending, it has sexual tension, steamy scenes, jealous guys, a fun storyline, entertaining characters, well written and easy to read.  This story lacked for me in elements of the professional side of the characters, which I think if given more depth would have provided a better platform for many of the storylines.  I found the story superficial rather than gripping.  Natural Harmony will get 3 ½ hearts – it’s a good story – if you want sweet and lovely, with some steam – you’ll love it!

There’s a buzzing sensation when you have chemistry with someone. It’s like there are invisible threads connecting your bodies and igniting into sparks, and the residual pulse bounces back in shockwaves, growing stronger with each second.

I felt that with Reno. He stepped so close to me that I remembered how good it felt when he’d held me in his arms. The animalistic look in his eyes captured me like he was a predator and I was prey. He felt it too. I could tell by soft breath he took before he spoke.

“I’ve always liked hazel eyes,” he said. “Yours look like a sunset over sea-green waters.”

I hit pause. This was a scene I’d be replaying in my head for weeks to come, and I didn’t want to ruin the moment by saying something inane. I let him graze his thumb across my mouth. He pulled my lower lip down just enough that his thumb glided across the fleshy inside. Then he rolled his wet thumb across my lip, making what seemed like a casual gesture become the most intimate moment I’d experienced with a man outside of sex.

Staring into Reno’s chocolate eyes up close was like riding on that motorcycle. Intense, sexy, and addictive. When I felt his hand leisurely traveling down the curve of my back, my icy walls began to melt and I warmed to his touch.

I waited for him to make another move, but it never came. He looked at me like something unattainable—the same way I coveted the expensive perfume bottles behind the display counter, or the chocolate macadamia nut cookies at the gourmet shop.

About the Author

This is the segment where you learn a little more about who I am, so here's what I can tell you:  I drink copious amounts of vitamin water placed precariously close to my laptop while writing. These are two healthy habits I have no intention of breaking. I'm a transplant living in the south, but I was born in the 70's to a military dad who moved us around the world.

When I'm not writing (which is all the time), I'm hunting down Indie music, watching movies, reading, eating Tex-Mex, discovering new ways to humiliate myself bowling, and burning up my laptop battery on the Internet. I have a relaxed, easy-going personality and don't like drama. I live with a cat who thinks she is a dog, or a goat (she eats plastic, so I'm not sure which).

Throughout my life, I've had insomnia. Counting sheep never worked and eventually I would imagine those sheep were the sole source of food after an apocalyptic battle where only thousands survived. I made up stories in a futile attempt to bore myself to sleep. The problem was, I got so wrapped up in my "head stories" that I would continue them through the following nights, changing it up each time to make it more exciting. Eventually, I started writing my ideas down - creating short stories, and then I discovered my love for poetry.

It's almost embarrassing how many spiral notebooks and stacks of paper I have of poetry and lyrics.

Another passion: digital art. I design all my book covers, marketing, and series art. I'm a very visual person and pursued photography as an avid hobby for many years.

I am not a YA author (I feel like I have to state this only because I've had a few people ask), but I think it's wonderful there are so many books available to teens in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal.

I am finally doing what I have always wanted to do: giving my characters a pulse through writing full time. I focus on adult urban fantasy romance, but I don't like labels and I enjoy blending genres to break out of the confines of predictability.

But it's what I love to do.

I would definitely give this book a 4&1/2 heart rating. This is a story about Jude and Charley. Both facing their own inner demons and coming out on top. Jude is a photographer.. Charley his model - after a chance meeting they start working together and the attraction quickly develops between them. While this book is designated as erotica it is most definitely an erotic romance first and foremost. The author puts considerable effort into both character and plot development - making you empathize with both of the lead characters. You can really feel Charley's pain when you find out the events that have led to this point in her life. I would have liked a little bit more of the 'steamy' content though. There is enough to tantalize and titillate - I would have loved more. If you love a good romance this is a definite read for you. Carefully crafted -  this story is an excellent read. Highly recommended :-)

I give it 3 1/2 hearts!!

Behind His Lens is a book for people who like to use their imagination and dream of these characters! This story really hits home on a certain level that  you'll understand when you read the last page. It's a compelling love story with the past haunting them till the end.

Charley is a New and upcoming model. She doesn't want the spotlight on her, but that all changed when she met Jude! 

Jude; the club hopping, panty dropping photographer never wanted a model for a  girlfriend, that is until he sees Charley at a photo shoot.

This novel is a decent read but I thought there would be more to it than there was.I loved the tension that would up between Jude and Charley! The story line was excellent but I didn't like that it got good but then slowed back down. I really think there could've been more detail on the characters at least where Jude and Charley is concerned. I wish there was definitely more about Charley’s past. Jude is a person you can hate to love or love to love. Charley is the kind of girl you want to take by the hand and just go skipping down the street to see her smile! These characters grew on me sorry :) 

I would recommend this book to someone who wants to get their toes wet to test the water before jumping in!

Iva's Review

I must say Dark Redemption has been one of the books I have been sweating on since reading Fall of Darkness and I wasn't disappointed. 

 As the second book in "The Chronicles of Darkness" the storyline picks up where it left off in "The Fall of Darkness" well. The opening scene gives the reader a glimpse into the darker part of Alexander's thoughts, and ties in well with the title. We also get a good refresher on how deeply and irrevocably in love Dominic and Kate are and why they are currently on the run from both the wolves and vampires. The characters are consistent from the first book, although Alexander's true nature is more exposed in this book. 

 Elle Bright has a writing style that draws a reader in. Her prose and style makes the story take hold of the reader's mind and gives the romance in the story - life.  

The pace of the book is good and I was very quickly drawn into the story. The two perspectives of both Kate and Dominic work well and the transitions between the two are once again flawless. 

 Minor characters help propel the story onwards and there are some scenes that not only emphasis the true love of Dominic and Kate, but also have you hoping for a novella or a spin off series.

 The ending to this book was not at all what I was expecting, but I have to say I loved it as it opens up a whole lot of possibilities due to some of the unexplored paranormal aspects Elle has been developing throughout the first two books.

Overall I think Dark Redemption is a fantastic read. I was very quickly drawn into the story and didn't want to put it down. The characters are consistent with the first book, but have evolved enough that the story continues to move forward. The quality of writing is superb, and I'm already anticipating the next book.

Talan Cox is a popular man, as a tatted ‘bad boy’ he generally has easy pussy being thrown at him.  He is 34 and a business man in his own right, he likes to play, but when Maya walks into his shop he is hit with the caveman stick!

Maya is a 20 year old student who came in to support her friend while she gets some work done.  Maya has goals and ambition, and although small in stature is no one door mat.  

Overt Flirtation ensues as Talan and Maya work out what they want from each other.

Marking her is a 90 page serial.  It is a quick read that lays the foundations for a potentially very good series. There is a depth to the characters that has been touched on and once explored further would likely make them very appealing.  So far, too much is unknown to understand the personalities and behaviours to a great extent.

Throw in some drama, some sexual tension, and the beginnings of some great secondary characters, and this read is pleasant.  If you are looking for a quick book full of hot sex, you wont find that here..  this one is full of the slow build, that I am sure will combust in the future.

This book gives you enough to be curious to see what becomes of Maya and Talan.

Elena M. Reyes was born and raised in Miami Florida. She is the epitome of a Floridian and if she could live in her beloved flip-flops, she would.

As a small child, she was always intrigued with all forms of art—whether it was dancing to island rhythms, or painting with any medium she could get her hands on. Her first taste of writing came to her during her fifth grade year when her class was prompted to participate in the D. A. R. E. Program and write an essay on what they’d learned.

Her passion for reading over the years has amassed her with hours of pleasure. It wasn't until she stumbled upon fanfiction that her thirst to write overtook her world.
