Synopsis:
Alexandria’s
drug-dealing boyfriend, Joel, isn’t exactly the white knight she’s always
dreamed of, but she can’t deny the crazy connection they have. She would do
anything for him, including helping him sell drugs in order to fit perfectly
into his world.
After catching Alexandria dealing for Joel, instead of turning her into the
cops, Alexandria’s mother forces her to move to her grandparents’ farm in West
Virginia. Spending the summer in the country, away from Joel, is the last thing
Alexandria wants to do. But lucky for her, the sexy farmhand, Landon, who helps
out around her grandparents’ place, is a very nice distraction. She tries her
best to ignore her attraction to him, especially since she still loves Joel.
When Joel does the unforgivable, Alexandria turns to her new friend, Landon,
for comfort, and it ignites an undeniable spark of attraction between them.
Soon, she finds herself caught between two very different men, and the
struggles within her heart just might end up breaking Alexandria.

Kota's Review:
Lexi’s behaviour and acting out cause her parents, or her mum to take matters in to her own hands, and when she busts Lexi dealing, the fall out is not what Lexi expected. Sending Lexi to bumfuck Egypt – aka West Virginia and a fate worse than death. Lexi won’t leave Joel, not willingly.
Life in West Virginia at her grandparents farm is not something that Lexi is keen on – its all about hard work and discipline. Luckily, Lexi meets Landon who is happy to guide her along. Their relationship develops as they become friends and Landon forces Lexi to have thoughts that she is not comfortable with. A chain of events lead Lexi to realise that maybe what she had with Joel was not what she thought it was. And… then bam – life changes drastically for Lexi.
This story was engaging, while the story has been told before – you know the one where the bad boy changes the good girl, she gets sent away and has an epiphany that life was not all it was cracked up to be. Only in this story – the epiphany comes on a number of fronts, but mainly when Lexi returns home.
The emotions in this story really drew you in – the relationships were deep and intense, the connections believeable. The sadness that engulfs you has you desperate for something good to pull you out. The messages about the importance of living life for yourself and not others is so important for adolescence today and it was so well delivered. This story pulled no punches and Ms Robinson delivered it seamlessly. I would have loved to have read Landon’s perspective, but Lexi’s was compelling nonetheless. 4.5 hearts – it was so close to perfect….

Excerpts
If there were a medal for sneaking out of the house without getting caught the
most times, I’d be the recipient for sure. I smiled to myself as I slowly slid
open my bedroom window. I glanced down to the yard below. It was illuminated by
the streetlight across the road from our house. I squinted as I looked around,
checking for movement of any kind.
