Review

Ava is a soul hunter, an angel who kills demons to retrieves lost souls. Ava is sent to hunt Keir, a Nephilim, ½ demon ½ angel, whose soul is needed to be retrieved by Ava.

When Ava meets up with the gorgeous Keir, she is challenged by his relationship with Dahlia, a human girl who is always by Keir’s side, and makes no bones about not liking Ava.

Another story, where pretty much any further explanation leads to spoilers. I will say there is a war brewing and Ava and Keir are on opposing sides, this creates obstacles for Ava task ahead. … This oh and the fact that Ava and Keir have a bond which makes it exceedingly hard for them to kill each other!!

As the story progresses, the characters become more likeable, initially it was hard to relate to them and understand their motives, but this does become clearer as the story goes along…. Travelling nicely and bam – didn’t see it playing out this way!

I enjoyed this story, the action kept you on your toes, the story keep rolling over nicely with new reveals at each turn. I enjoyed the authors style and tone, although, at times, I did struggle with keeping up with who was who, and what their role was.

This is book 1 in a series, however, it doesn’t end on a cliff hanger – just a knowledge that there is much more in store for Ava and Keir.

I am rating Soul Ties, 3 1/2 hearts – if you like a new adult paranormal – you should enjoy the dynamics of this story!

Lisa was born in the UK and she moved around Europe with her military family before completing a BA (Hons) in English at the University of Leeds. Her home is now in Perth, Australia with her husband and three children. Lisa has written since she was a child - moving from writing poems and short stories aged nine to writing novels in the last few years.
