Review

Used is a 60 ish page story. It introduces us to V. It is best described as an erotic novella, and I had no idea what to expect.

What I found was a case of What the Fuck??

I read blind when I receive ARC’s. I don’t read the blurb, or check out the FB discussion or Goodreads. The reason I do this is so I review honestly, with no preconceived ideas about a story and where it might (or should according to me) head or how I think it will end. Sometimes I love doing this – sometimes I get smacked upside the head! Used is one of the latter times. Here I was thinking that this would be a quick and dirty erotic story, I mean in 50 odd pages, how much substance could there be… right? So my measure would have been how good was the sex and the writing.

On that scale, the sex was hot, dirty, and lots of it. This book includes F/F and M/F/F situations. The writing was good – no complaints on that score either. The tone fit the brutality of the story and nothing jumped out at me as being out of place.

Now the story – I DID NOT expect this book to be anything like it was. This is more than just a quick dirty read. This is a story that has you questioning first impressions, and leaves you with that message of life turning on a pin head.

V is a nasty unbalanced piece of work, who has you curious to see where her story takes her. As a full length novel this could have been a very intense read – but as a novella, it contained a lot in a short amount of time. I am undecided if that is something I like or not. I will have to reserve judgement on that until I see the next couple of installments.

As far as erotic novella’s go, if you want just a hot sexy read – this isn’t it. If you want a hot sexy read with a touch of what the fucks… grab your copy and meet V.
