Synopsis
At age twenty, Molly Shakespeare knows a lot.
She knows Descartes and Kant.
She knows academia and Oxford.
She knows that the people who love you leave you.
She knows how to be alone.
But when Molly leaves England's grey skies behind to start a new life at the University of Alabama, she finds that she has a lot to learn—she didn't know a summer could be so hot, she didn't know students could be so intimidating, and she certainly didn't know just how much the folks of Alabama love their football.
When a chance encounter with notorious star quarterback, Romeo Prince, leaves her unable to think of anything but his chocolate-brown eyes, dirty-blond hair and perfect physique, Molly soon realises that her quiet, solitary life is about to dramatically change forever...
Mature New Adult novel—contains adult content, highly sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up*
Review
You know I started reading this story and I was quickly gripped by Molly’s story – then we meet Rome, and I discover the Shakespeare connection – and I thought – come on… really how corny and sad is that!
But I kept reading because that is what I do – and……
I couldn’t have been more pleased, this modern day love story of Shakespearean proportions was fabulous. What a wonderful story of love conquering all.
Sweet Home is Molly and Rome’s story – and what broken souls they both are. Molly is an English girl studying her Masters in America, who is swept away by Alabama’s favourite son – the Universities start quarterback. Both have pasts and presents that have them being quite lonely souls.
The scene is well set in the College life, now I don’t claim to understand US college life, including sororities, cheer leaders and the fame that comes with sportsman at that level – but I am learning!!! Tillie wrote in such a way that I was there, watching from the stands – or is it the bleachers – I need to work on my Americanisms!
As the story unfolded, my heart was in my throat for this pair – and while the outcome of the drama’s was slightly predictable, the story telling managed to still make it all a surprise. This story made perfect sense.
This story also comes with pathetic, spiteful characters who you can only love to hate – the pleasing element of that aspect is the key message that karma is a bitch!
This is a wonderful New Adult read, has some saucy sex scene, but ultimately is a story about true, once in a lifetime love and how that kind of love is worth fighting for.
I am rating Sweet Home 4 ½ Hearts xxx |
About the Author
Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
